Be the first team to catch all of their team’s balls

-Aptitudes motrices fondamentales:

  • Locomotor

    • Run​

  • Manipulative Send​

    • Propel 

    • Strike​

    • Throw

  • Manipulative Receive​

    • Catch​

-Mise en place:

  • Both teams have their ramp (R) placed at the same end of the court

  • A pitching/catching line is made approximately 7-10 paces away

  • One player from each team is the batter (B)

  • One player from each team is their team’s catcher (C)

  • One player from each team is their team’s pitcher

  • The other players are in a scattered position throughout the catching area

  • The balls are placed just in front of the pitching line (possibly inside a bucket or hoola hoop…)

-Instructions:

  • On the signal to begin the pitchers roll their balls towards the ramp and once the ball has rolled up the ramp and popped up, the batters attempt to strike the ball to members of their team.

  • If the ball misses the ramp, or the batter misses to hit the ball, the catcher gets the ball and rolls the ball back to their pitcher.

  • The players attempt to catch the ball.

  • A caught ball is put into a ball bag.

  • First team to get all of their balls into their bag is the winner.

 

  • Variation

    • Have more than one pitcher, or have all players take a turn at pitching a successful hit.

    • If it is too difficult to hit the balls with the bat, use a paddle.

    • Teams can play defense and knock opponents balls away.
