Target Relay

-Objective:

To get the stability ball to rest on an inner tube or ball stand as many times as possible in a set amount of time

-Fundamental Movement Skills:

  • Locomotor

    • Run​

  • Manipulative Send​

    • Throw​

-Equipment List:

  • One stability ball per team of two to three players

  • One inner tube or ball stand per team

-Equipment Link:

-Setting Up:

  • Have teams line up behind a starting or tossing line.

  • Place an inner tube or ball stand for each team about three to five paces from the starting or tossing line.

  • The first player in line holds the stability ball.

-Instructions:

  • On your signal to begin, the first player in line throws, bounces, or rolls the ball to try to get it to balance on top of the inner tube or ball stand. This scores one point.

  • Regardless of success, the first player retrieves the ball, passes it to the second player in line, and goes to the back of the team’s line.

  • After a set amount of time, call, “Stop.” The team with the most points wins.

-Questions & Notes:

You might have an easier time obtaining old tires than inner tubes, although they are heavier and more difficult to move around.
