Right-Left Consecutive Bunt Pepper

​Bunt as many accurate punts as possible in 10 pitches for each player.

-Mise en place:

  • For groups of four players:

    • A bat

    • Two balls

    • Three gloves​

-Instructions:

  • The pitcher and fielder F2 each have a ball.

  • The pitcher pitches the ball.

  • Batter punts to player on batter’s left.

  • The pitcher goes to F2 and F2 goes to the pitcher’s spot and pitches the ball.

  • Batter punts to fielder on batter’s right.

  • The pitcher goes to F1 and F1 goes to the pitcher’s spot and pitches the ball.

  • Continue until the batter has received 10 pitches.

  • Switch the batter and repeat till all 4 players have batted 10 times.

  • What was the total number of successful bunts?

-Questions et notes:

  • Safety considerations: 

    • Pitches should be slow and bunts snot hit hard. 

  • Variations:

    • Speed Pepper: Same as Right-Left Consecutive Bunt Pepper but players count how many successful punts they can make in 2 minutes. The player pitching must always pitch from the pitcher’s spot.

    • Through the Infield Pepper: Same as Right-Left Consecutive Bunt Pepper but fielders back up another 5 paces and pitcher throw the ball at half speed and hitters hits the ball at half speed. Hitter tries to find an open spot between the fielders. Count how many consecutive hits out of 40 and how many balls got through the infield. 

  • As a cool-down:

    • Works well as a cool-down but to slow things down add 2 more fielders.
