To score points by making the ball land on the opponent’s court.
-Lien d'équipement:
-Mise en place:
-
Place 2 participants on the playing court on either side of the net.
-
The court is delineated by a back court line (the attack line 3 metres from the net) and 2 side lines approximately 3 metres apart (these lines permit as many as 3 courts (A, B, and C) side-by-side as shown on the illustration).
-Instructions:
-
Determine which team has first serve by doing a coin toss. The server stands behind the back-court line (attack line) and serves the ball into the opposition’s court. The game continues using regular volleyball rules. A player:
-
May not carry or throw the ball.
-
Cannot touch the ball 2 times in a row.
-
Cannot touch the net.
-
-
If the ball goes out-of-bounds off a player, lands on the court, or is not returned successfully with 3 or less hits, the other team scores a point and serves the ball. Play to 5 (or other pre-set number) of points. The first team to 5 points wins.
-Questions et notes:
-
Safety considerations:
-
If 3 courts are used side-by-side, warn participants to be careful not to bump into neighbouring players–have them call a replay if there is any fear of contacting another player when playing their ball.
-
-
Instructional tips:
-
Have players switch courts (winner moving 1 court towards court A, losers moving 1 court towards court C–the ones at the end stay) as soon as any team announces they have scored 5 points (if 2 teams are tied at that time, the team that scored the highest point first is the winner).
-
-
Variations:
-
One-on-one: Play with 1 player a side, and allow that player to touch the ball 3 times in a row before passing the ball over the net on the third hit.
-
-
As a cool-down:
-
Works well as a cool-down, especially if some players need to leave a few players can carry on a little longer with this game after practice.
