  • Place flags accordingly:

    • Markers 1 and 2 (High income countries like Hong Kong, USA, or Canada) get 3 sets of FoodGroup Flags -1

-Instructions:

  • On the leader’s signal to begin, players pair up with players and play a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors (Rock (fist) smashes Scissors (two fingers in scissors shape), Scissors cuts Paper (flat hand), and Paper covers Rock).

  • The player that wins runs to Marker #1 and picks up 1 FoodGroup Flag. The one that does not win finds another partner to play RPS with.

    • In the second game of the non-winner the winner goes to Marker #2 and picks up 1 FoodGroup Flag, the non-winner plays another partner in the middle.

    • In the third game of the non-winner the winner goes to Marker #3 and picks up 1 FoodGroup Flag, the non-winner plays another partner in the middle.

  • Once on a Marker, players pair up with another player at that Marker and play a game of RPS. The winner can choose to stay or advance clockwise to the next Marker. The winner picks up another FoodGroup Flag if there is one; the one who does not win does pick up another FoodGroup Flag regardless if that player stays or moves clockwise.

  • The first player with 2 balanced meals is the winner (blanced meal = 1 fruit, 1 vegetable, 1 protein, and 1 grain).

Variations

  • Increasing the space between Markers increases the activity level and time it takes to complete the game; decreasing the space between Markers decreases the activity level and time it takes to complete the game.

-Questions et notes:

  • Which markers were you most likely to succeed/not succeed in getting a balanced meal (explain which countries are represented by the different markers).

  • Was it fair or lucky which country you were in?

  • Did you get dejected, want to cheat, start a revolution…. to try to get to the countries with most access to food? What does that say about conflict in the world today? What is our role in providing solutions…..

  • What are the four food groups?
