-Lien d'équipement:

-Mise en place:

  • In the middle of a gym, set up your track by placing pylons 4 to 6 yards (meters) from the center of the gym, forming a square.

  • Inside the square is the pit area.

  • Outside the square is the track.

  • Pick a line, perhaps a centerline in the gym to be the start and finish line.

  • Have one of the players from each team sit on two scooters (their butt on one and their feet on the other) at the start line; this is the car.

  • One player (the engine) stands behind them.

  • The rest of the team is assigned a location in the pit area.

-Instructions:

  • Begin with a car and engine from each team at the starting line.

  • The starter signals the start of the race.

  • The first engine must push their car once around the track and then past their pit area where a new engine takes over.

  • The new engine pushes the car around the track once and by their pit area the next engine takes over.

  • This activity is repeated until everyone has had a turn at being the engine.

  • The last player pushes the car once around the track and then past the finish line, everyone else needs to be seated in their pit area--repeat this three times.

  • The team that accomplishes the above the quickest is the winner

-Questions et notes:

  • Safety Considerations

    • Participants should wear helmets; this adds safety and realism to the event. Make sure the corners are far enough away from the walls to prevent crashes into the walls.

  • Teaching Tips

    • If 1 lap is not strenuous enough, have each engine take their car around the track 2 times.

    • Another option is to have a set length (20 or 30 laps), require every engine of the team to be used at least for 1 lap, but give each team the choice of who does more laps.

    • If you are doing a lengthy race, assign 1 player per team to be the lap-counter.
